Jamuna Technology Award

Creating opportunities through technology

The Jamuna Technology Award (JTA) is an educational initiative established in 2026 with a simple purpose: to provide students with access to technology that can support their education, develop their digital skills and create new opportunities for their future.

The award is named in honour of Jamuna Rijal and represents a belief that access to the right resources at the right time can make a lasting difference in a young person’s life.

The 2026 Jamuna Technology Award

The inaugural Jamuna Technology Award is being presented in partnership with Little Flower School, Narayangarh, Nepal.

Four students selected by the school will each receive a high-quality, professionally refurbished business-grade laptop.

The laptops are provided directly to the recipients to keep and use throughout their education.

The aim is not simply to provide a computer, but to give students a tool they can use to learn, explore, create and develop skills that will remain valuable well beyond the classroom.

Creating Opportunities Through Technology

Technology has become an important part of modern education.

Having access to a personal computer can allow a student to explore educational resources beyond their textbooks, develop practical computer skills, research subjects independently, learn new technologies and discover interests that may eventually influence their further education or career.

The Jamuna Technology Award is built around a simple idea:

A small opportunity provided at the right time can have an impact that lasts a lifetime.

Each laptop represents an opportunity for a student to explore what technology can make possible.

How Recipients Are Selected

Recipients of the Jamuna Technology Award are selected independently by Little Flower School through a panel of teachers who understand their students and their individual circumstances.

Selection considers factors including academic commitment, character, potential and where access to technology could make a meaningful difference to the student’s education.

Importantly, the award is intended to be something recipients can feel proud of.

In Honour of Jamuna Rijal

The award carries the name of Jamuna Rijal in recognition of the importance that encouragement, education and access to opportunity can have in shaping a young person’s future.

Her name represents the principle at the heart of the initiative: investing in a child’s education can create opportunities whose impact may only become fully apparent many years later.

Through the Jamuna Technology Award, that principle is passed forward to another generation of students.

A laptop by itself cannot determine someone’s future.

But in the hands of a curious and motivated student, it can become a classroom, a library, a creative tool and a gateway to knowledge.

The Jamuna Technology Award exists to provide that tool and allow each recipient to decide where they take it from there.
